Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Algovenix ("we", "us") collects and uses information when you use our browser extensions (including Lycro, Knowte, and Capturo), websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
1) Who can use the Service
The Service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
2) Data we collect
A. Account data
- Email address (required for account and support).
- Authentication data (handled securely by our authentication provider).
- Subscription/status data (e.g., whether you have access to paid features).
We do not store or have access to full payment card details. Payment information is processed directly by our payment providers.
B. Content you choose to save
The Service stores content you explicitly create or save, such as highlights, notes, bookmarks, tags, reading preferences, and related annotation metadata. We do not store your general browsing history - only the specific content you decide to save through the Service. For Lycro, free users can use the extension without an account and keep their saved data locally on their device. If you sign in and use cloud sync, backup, or premium text-to-speech features, the relevant saved content or selected text may be transmitted to our backend and service providers solely to provide those features. For Knowte, when you choose to summarize, transcribe, or get key takeaways from content you select (such as a video, web page, or document), the relevant text (for example, a video's title and transcript, or a page's or document's text) is sent to our backend and to third-party AI providers acting on our behalf, solely to generate the requested results. We only send content you explicitly choose to process. For Capturo, the PDFs and images you capture from web pages are generated and stored locally on your device by default; if you sign in and use the cloud library or backup feature, the captures you choose to save are uploaded to our cloud storage so you can access them across devices. Capturo only captures a page when you explicitly ask it to.
C. Technical and security data
We may collect basic technical logs needed to operate and secure the Service (e.g., IP address, device/browser info, timestamps, error logs). We use this for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.
D. Analytics
We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand usage and improve the Service. We aim to keep analytics data non-identifying where reasonably possible.
E. Referral data (when referral feature is active)
If you use the referral feature, we collect the email addresses of people you invite. We use this data solely to send the invitation and track whether the referral was accepted (to apply any reward). We do not use invitee emails for marketing or any other purpose. Unaccepted invitations are deleted within 90 days.
3) How we use data
- Provide the Service, including storing and syncing your saved content across devices when you use cloud features.
- Customer support and service communications.
- Security, fraud prevention, and debugging.
- Improve features and performance (including aggregated analytics).
- Process referrals and apply referral rewards (when the referral feature is active).
- Provide text-to-speech features, including processing text content you select for audio generation.
- Process purchases, subscription status, and feature entitlement.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4) Legal bases
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your data under the following legal bases:
- Contract - your account data and saved content are processed to deliver the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests - technical logs are processed to keep the Service secure and working properly.
- Consent - analytics cookies are only used if you agree, and you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation - we may retain or share data when required by law.
5) Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers (e.g., authentication, hosting, databases, cloud functions/storage, analytics, text-to-speech, and AI/LLM providers for summarization and transcription) acting on our instructions.
- Payment processing providers acting as Merchant of Record (MoR) for purchases, who may process payment and billing data on our behalf.
- Legal/safety where required by law or to protect users, the Service, or our rights.
- Business transfer if the Service is acquired (with appropriate safeguards).
All third-party processors act under contract with us and are required to implement appropriate data protection safeguards.
6) Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect the integrity and security of data collected through the Service. Free users can use Lycro without an account - saved Lycro data stays locally on their device unless they choose a feature that requires transmission, such as cloud sync, backup, or premium text-to-speech. If you use those cloud features, we require authentication to protect your account. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and controlling access to your account. You should not highlight, annotate, or save content that contains your own or others' sensitive credentials.
7) Chrome Web Store "Limited Use" statement
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This means we only access and use personal or sensitive user data to provide or improve the user-facing features described in our extensions and disclosed in this Policy. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to those features, and we do not sell data, use it for advertising profiling, or share it with third parties except as described in this Policy.
8) Data retention & deletion
We retain personal data only as long as needed. Specific criteria:
- Account data (email, auth info) - retained until you request deletion.
- Saved content (highlights, notes, bookmarks) - retained until you delete it or your account is deleted.
- Technical logs & security data - retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and fraud prevention, unless longer retention is required by law.
- Referral data - unaccepted invitations deleted within 90 days (see section 2E).
You can request account and data deletion by emailing [email protected]. We delete or anonymize data within 30 days of a request, except where retention is required for legal compliance, security, or backups. Deleted data may remain in secure backups for a limited period before being permanently removed.
9) Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access - request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction - request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
- Deletion - request that we erase your personal data.
- Restriction - request that we limit how we process your data.
- Objection - object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Portability - request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent - where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
10) Cookies
This section applies to our websites. We use the following types of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies - required for the website to function.
- Analytics cookies - used to understand how users interact with the Service (e.g., Google Analytics).
Analytics cookies are only used where permitted by applicable law. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.
11) International transfers
Data may be processed in countries other than where you live, including countries outside the EEA. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers provided by our infrastructure partners, including standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
12) Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and may notify you of material changes within the Service or by email.
